We may need to send this to Myth Busters!

According to weather folklore, when you cut open a persimmon seed, you can forecast the severity of the winter by the shape of the seed that is inside.  Inside the seed you will find a picture of a spoon, fork or a knife.

If you find an image of a spoon, there will be lots of heavy, wet snow.  If you find a fork, it means you can expect a mild winter with powdery, light snow.  If you find a knife it indicates an icy and bitter cold winter.
